Cragcross directory set-up

Create the base directory in which to install Cragcross applications.

Create a Cragcross base directory and an environment variable as a reference

The Cragcross executables will be installed in the same base directory.

Some of the Cragcross applications will require a refence to this base direcory: this reference will be implemented by means of an environment variable named CRAGCROSS_DIR.

Create a base directory for the Cragcross applications

Choose a suitable location for the installation of the Cragcross applications. It is recommended to use either C:\Cragcross or D:\Cragcross.\  Below, it will be assumed that C:\Cragcross was chosen.

Create an environment variable that points to the Cragcross directory

Follow these steps to create an environment variable that points to the new Cragcross directory:

  1. Open Settings → System → About → Advanced system settings (right side) → Environment Variables…
  2. Under “User variables for <YourUser>”, click New…
  3. Set Variable name to CRAGCROSS_DIR
  4. Set Variable value to the desired folder path, e.g. C:\Cragcross
  5. Click OK → OK → OK to close all dialogs
  6. Close and reopen any terminals or apps that should see the new variable (or sign out/in)

To check the value, open a command prompt and type:

echo %CRAGCROSS_DIR%

N.B.: Depending on how your Windows OS has been configured, it may be necessary to reboot your PC before the new environment will take effect.
